In the second of a series of pre-season reports, HarryFromBath assesses the mood around the Championship clubs by delving into their forums. Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Doncaster Rovers are under the spotlight in today’s notes.

Barnsley sub Danny Rose netted a late equaliser - his first league goal - to deny the Blues three points as the Tykes left Portman Road having claimed a deserved 1-1 draw. Town were fortunate to be on terms at half-time — ex-Blues loanee Marlon Harewood missing a number of chances — but Luke Chambers put Mick McCarthy's men in front in the 56th minute.

Michael Chopra’s 13th minute goal saw the Blues to three wins on the trot for the first time this season as they left Portsmouth with a 1-0 victory. Town started strongly and were deservedly up at the break and had plenty of chances to add to their lead in both halves.

Liverpool and Spurs have both again been linked with moves for Town striker Connor Wickham. The pair have long been understood to be amongst the front-runners in the chase for the 17-year-old’s signature, along with Chelsea and Arsenal.

Town manager Roy Keane looks set to switch Jack Colback to central midfield when the Blues face Cardiff at Portman Road this evening. The loanee from Sunderland is the man most likely to replace Grant Leadbitter, who is suspended for two games having amassed 10 bookings.

Town will feel themselves lucky to have left Deepdale with a point after rarely looking their best against the Championship's fourth-placed side. The Lilywhites went ahead through David Nugent but Tommy Miller hit back for the Blues in the second half.

Town continued their unbeaten home run and moved up to second in the table with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Preston North End. The Blues should probably have scored more but had to be content with first half efforts from Shefki Kuqi and Tommy Miller, with Darren Bent adding the third.
